Light painting has a rich and varied history that dates back to 1889, when two artists, Georges Demeny and Etienne-Jules Marey, traced human motion in the first known light painting Pathological Walk From in Front. Since then, it has been used by creative icons – such as Pablo Picasso – to create stunning and celebrated works of art. With the advent and surge of new technology in the 21st century, light painting as an art form has surged in popularity; this technique has the power to transform ordinary photoshoots and portraits into unique and memorable moments in time.
Since 1996, when the art form of light painting was still film-based, Mark Thompson and David Lustrup have been perfecting their craft in the art of photography and light painting. Completely self-taught, the pair continues to use their extensive knowledge and experience of the industry to capture memorable photographs of events, people, and places. Light painting originally began as a hobby for the photographers, but soon became a passion when they saw the need for and lack of light painting in the general mainstream.
Why We Light Paint
There is no greater feeling than when a client looks at their unique image and is floored. We truly love to bring the “wow” factor back to traditional photography. Reshaping ordinary photographs into something special brings a smile to our clients’ faces and ours, and it’s why we do what we do. We have a sizeable collection of light painting equipment and tools to deliver the exact effect that our clients look for; in December 2018, we incorporated and decided to start working in the light painting sector full-time to deliver the absolute best in alternative photography. Our skillsets range from photography and videography, to photo/video editing and more. We use the full suite of Adobe products to perfect your image to make sure that our clients are satisfied with the quality of our work, every time.
